We’re going to give you a basic breakdown of different ways that you can care for them, so that you can pick and choose and decide what works best for you.
Right After Use:
All our pads are designed to easily fold up and snap closed, so if you’re out, you don’t have to worry about bulk when carrying them to the bathroom.
*note for our trans guys, our pads are also almost silent, with the exception of snaps, so no crinkly plastic that could out you.*
If you’re able, rinsing in cold water immediately after use will greatly reduce staining. If you can’t, that’s ok too! Our Minky fabric is specifically chosen to reduce if not eliminate staining.
Storage Before Washing:
You can wash them with your regular laundry if you like, and in that case storage won’t be much of an issue, depending on how often you do laundry. If you’re washing with lighter fabrics, you’ll want to give them a good rinse before putting them in the washer.
They can be stored both wet or dry.
If they are stored dry, it is still a good idea to give them a rinse before washing.
If stored wet, you do not want the water to soak for more than a few days, and ideally you will put fresh water in every day or every other day if they need to soak longer. Adding baking soda to the water can help reduce staining and any smell.
Wash Prep: (if you want)
A pre-wash rinse will help to reduce staining.
If you’re very concerned about stains, you can Very Lightly bleach 1 to 10 – 1 to 20 dillution.
Buncha Farmers Stain stick is also pretty good at stain removal, but not very good for stains that have been on through a few washes.
Washing:
Wash them on cold.
Fabric Softener can, over time, make pads less absorbent. Use sparingly if at all.
Drying:
Dry them however you like, the more gentle you are, the longer the fabric will hold up, as with anything made of fabric. That being said, anything heavier than our liners will not dry fast enough to air dry, so if you’ve got standards or up, toss them in the dryer.
If you’re washing them solo, toss in some damp towels when drying, so that the sensor in your dryer doesn’t turn the dryer off before they are dry.
